This year’s meeting focus was on the treatment landscape and the valuable perspectives of patients, explored through presentations, interactive work sessions, and discussions. It was again an inspiring and successful meeting!

- Joint GalNet EGS Meeting November 15 and 16, 2024
November 15-17, the annual EGS/GalNet meeting was held in Amsterdam. EGS is the European Galactosaemia Patient Association (www.galactosaemia.eu), and GalNet is the International Galactosaemia Network for professionals (www.galactosemianetwork.org). The event was attended by participants from 22 countries. This year’s theme was Roads to Better Care. Professionals from various countries presented their research on potential new therapies for galactosaemia. Plans were also discussed to update the guidelines for diagnosis, follow-up, and treatment of galactosaemia with the latest insights.
In addition, initiatives were presented to develop better outcome measures, such as the use of AI, that are necessary to assess the effectiveness of new treatments. In a separate session, patient representatives shared their priorities and vision on new treatment modalities with professionals. It was an inspiring meeting, with concrete plans to collectively improve care for this patient group.
